“Evertown” is set in Everwing’s universe. It is a Facebook Messenger game in which players get fancier buildings by merging similar buildings with each other. Once certain milestones are reached, new building plots are awarded to help the player’s town grow.
The core loop of "Evertown" went through many iterations. The one shown on these mocks is the latest released one. The idea was simplified from past versions to a UI that shows the player a sequence of rewards. Its purpose is to show something to continue playing towards. When designing, I kept in mind that engineers should be able to easily animate it programmatically.Play Game
This is a bonus minigame that becomes accessible to players when they reach the stopwatch icon on the “Reward Treadmill”. The player tries to get a high score by merging as many buildings as possible before the time runs out. It breaks the main game routine by creating a sense of urgency. My main intention was to make the score and timer as big as possible, both making it very readable and also encouraging the player to hurry. The flow for these screens was heavily influenced by "Everwing".
I was tasked with exploring the look of a player’s Level Up Screen. At this stage of production, there was interest in adding Everwing characters into the UI to tie Evertown with the other game’s universe. To get a clearer direction, I created a few variations that I then shared with my art director. Once a layout was chosen it would get polished and new assets would be sent to developers for implementation. The mechanics for the game changed a few times after this, so unfortunately the iterations ended up being scrapped.
